Cruise is a younger brother to Gibson, and a very good young dog improving all the time with experience. His work is different to Gibson’s and in some respects better… they’re certainly not carbon copies! He’s clever in the way he can read stock and settle them before trying to lift a mob, and is capable of working independently at some distance from the handler in rough country. We find the dogs continue to grow in confidence and working ability until maybe three years so I doubt Cruise has really reached his potential; as I type this he’s just turned two and is already a “go to” dog. He’s a bit camera shy and I’m still waiting for a really good photo of him! The lower two photos were taken as a youngster.

Cruise spent a couple of weeks with Stan Hughes in 2024. He didn’t like Stan’s training methods and it took him quite a time to remember what ‘Stop’ meant! Em had a good one on him but Stan doesn’t believe in giving a command if it’s likely to be disobeyed and Cruise had no idea what he was on about..

We have a nice litter of four by him from Naka(Nov.24) including three bitch pups and an accidental mating to Midnight, who was meant to be retired. She’s due in December so we’ll see…I don’t have a lot of faith in her maternal instincts at this age!
